A framed display advertising the "Silver Lake Summer Resort" hung in the former Silver Lake Village Hall, 113 S First Street, Silver Lake.  The display highlighted F. H. Schenning's marketing brochure for the Resort, as well as several handwritten letters from satisfied Resort customers.

The Silver Lake Summer Resort was located along the southwestern shore of Silver Lake, a short distance from the Wisconsin Central Railway station.  The brochure brags of a "magnificent view of the cliff on the opposite side of the lake..." and "a glimpse can be had of the beautiful Fox River."

The Resort had a dining room for 100 people, an archestra, evening dances, lawn tennis and croquet grounds, a bowling alley, equiestrian opportuknities, solid gravel roads, and a "reputation second to none as a successful fishing ground."

The Resort's intention was to "enable our visitors to secure the rest for which they came," and lauded the "verdict of our many friends and guests who have named Silver Lake as 'Nature's Sanitarium.'"
